Miniature bull riding has been around for several years, however the word is just now starting to spread. And - its spreading like wildfire.

Miniature bulls are produced by breeding a miniature cow to a miniature bull. There are several different breeds of the miniature cattle. In order to register a bull as a minibull, it must be no more than 46 inches tall.

Most children interested in learning the sport of bull riding learn to ride by riding on young steers first. They learn on steers and then are introduced to junior bulls. However, the transition to junior bulls can be difficult.

"The steers will typically just go out and run. The minibulls buck you just like the 'big boys' do." says Phillip McCracken, one of the events promoters. "The minibulls are preparing them for serious bullriding when they grow up."

Young cowboys and cowgirls will be coming to the events from several states to participate. Youths must be between 7 and 14 years of age and weigh less than 125 pounds.

Entry fees are $50 with a $10 stock charge. Contestants must have parent/guardian sign an event waiver.

Keep posted here for more information as it develops.
